Kangal and Cane Corso have one of the strongest bite forces in the canine world. Both are loyal to their owner and will go to any length to safeguard their property and loved ones.

But what if they had a one-on-one fight? Who would win?

In this post, you will certainly find your answer!

Cane Cors Vs Kangal: Who Would Win?

Cane Corso vs Kangal

I adore Cane Corsos because I think they are among the most devoted and protective dog breeds out there, but sadly, the Cane Corso has very little chance of winning a fight against a Kangal.

When it comes to dog battle, a Kangal is a superior dog. They are better fighters with greater weight, height, bite force, and ferocity.

A Pitbull and two Cane Corsos got into a battle, and although you might not believe it, the Pitbull won. You may view the video here.

However, when a Pitbull of the same size faced a Kangal, the Kangal made the Pitbull appear feeble.

Remember, Pitbulls were bred for bullfighting and dogfights.

Making Pitbull look easy to beat demonstrates Kangals’ strength.

Let us compare more things to gain a better understanding!

Size

Breed Height (Male) Height (Female) Weight (Male) Weight (Female)
Cane Corso 25-27.5 inches (63.5-70 cm) 23.5-26 inches (60-66 cm) 90-110 pounds (40-50 kg) 80-100 pounds (36-45 kg)
Kangal 30-32 inches (76-81 cm) 28-30 inches (71-76 cm) 110-145 pounds (50-66 kg) 90-120 pounds (41-54 kg)
Size Comparison Table

In a fight, size matters; a larger dog has a higher chance of targeting crucial areas such as the neck.

Kangal has a greater reach, whereas the Cane Corso would struggle to reach Kangal’s soft spots.

Both canines are among the world’s largest dog breeds, however, the Kangal is over 5 inches taller and weighs 20 pounds more than the Cane Corsos.

Body Build

Both dogs are robust, tall, and muscular, and they appear frightening at first glance.

Cane Corsos are smaller than Kangals, but nonetheless fairly powerful. They have a huge head, an alert gaze, and muscles bulging beneath their short, rigid coat.

While Kangals appear to be built for dogfighting, they are relatively tall, with a balanced structure, a large strong head, and an athletic, muscular physique. Their coat is short, thick, and dense, with a waterproof, windproof undercoat that protects the Kangal from adverse weather conditions.

Although both canines are physically gifted, the Kangal has a little edge.

Skills

Though neither of the dogs was designed for dogfights, they have both developed a fair set of skills over time to defeat their opponents.

Kangals and Cane Corsos were designed as livestock guardians and land guardian breeds.

In ancient times, Cane Corsos fought deadly wild beasts like lions, bears, bulls, other wild animals, and even gladiators.

Kangals would fight wolves, jackals, and even bears to preserve their sheep.

Things have changed significantly since then. Cane Corsos are no longer typically seen guarding cattle; instead, they have evolved into companions and house protectors.

Though the same cannot be said about kangals, they continue to be seen pursuing coyotes and engaging in combat with bears and other threatening predators.

Whereas the wild experience and skills of Cane Corsos have decreased with time, Kangals have retained all the important skills and knowledge they have acquired over the years.

Furthermore, when Kangals battle, they appear more fearsome, aggressive, and balanced than Cane Corsos.

Aggression

A Cane Corso is generally more aggressive than a Kangal, yet when it comes to demonstrating aggression in a fight, a Kangal wins.

Kangals typically get along well with their owners and do not try to control them, but they still require extensive early training and socialization, as well as a strong leader. First-time owners should avoid this breed entirely.

Cane Corsos are also not suited for inexperienced owners because they might become out of control and refuse to obey your commands. They require appropriate socialization and early obedience training.

Many people regret their decision to buy a Cane Corso because they are now unable to handle the breed.

Courage

Kangals are mental, the most courageous canines ever, and they fear nothing. There is footage of them fighting bears, wolves, coyotes, and other dangerous creatures.

You can feel their bravery as they fight. They will either die or defeat the animal they are battling against.

Cane Corsos are also extremely brave; they will protect your home from robbers and other canines, although they have been seen to back down when the other animal is stronger than them.

A Pitbull made two cane Corsos run back to their owner, so it tells that they have less courage than Kangals.

Stamina & Speed

When determining who would prevail in a combat, stamina is a critical aspect. A dog with higher endurance may attack with the same vigor for longer periods of time, but a dog with less stamina eventually loses energy.

Even though large dogs like Kangals and Cane Corsos aren’t typically thought of as being fast or having a lot of endurance, these breeds actually do have a decent bit of stamina.

A Kangal is superior to a Cane Corso in terms of speed; it can sprint and attack more quickly.

Additionally, they are marginally more resilient than Cane Corsos. But keep in mind that each dog may have a different level of stamina.

Agility

Another factor that can influence how a fight turns out is agility. Dogs that are agile are excellent at both attacking and defending themselves.

In this case, there is no winner because both species can move quickly despite their massive size.

Intelligence and Trainbilty

Both breeds are extremely trainable and clever dogs.

They have a strong food desire, which can help teach them new commands; nevertheless, they can be stubborn at times, and they require strong leaders; inexperienced leaders may struggle to teach and train them.

However, if I had to pick a breed that excels at learning new things, I would suggest “Cane Corso”. They are easier to train than Kangals because some Cane Corsos are eager to please and learn things faster.

Bite Force

Breed Bite Force (Estimated)
Cane Corso Approximately 700 psi
Kangal Approximately 743 psi
Bite Force Comparison

As you might notice in the table, Cane Corsos have a slightly less powerful bite than Kangals, but it’s pretty close.

A stronger bite force can give deeper cuts or wounds, as Kangals have a better bite force, they win this round.

Kanagals have a jaw structure that is very capable of holding and inflicting severe damage.

Once a dog comes into the jaws of Kangals, it’s pretty hard to escape.

Final Words…

Cane Corsos are powerful dogs that can be great guards and family dogs, but when it comes to a one-on-one fight, Kangals have no competition.

Kangals are the strongest and most dangerous dogs in the world, they can even defeat Pitbulls.

However, both Cane Corsos and Kangals are not recommended for first-time owners.
